As you browse through the poems and select individual works to read, you will see that many are accompanied by examples of handwritten "in-process" drafts and revisions. Poetry, like any art, takes effort, planning, and reworking. Inspiration may come, and it may be the final ingredient, but it is certainly not a constant presence. As poet James Emanuel stated in his excellent written interview for Cosmoetica, "A real writer is lucky enough to find time to write, and he will not complain when The Muse is out to lunch.
